Pervert caught by an undercover police officer

A SEX offender caught by an undercover police officer is facing jail after he admitted indecently assaulting a young girl.

A judge at Worcester Crown Court ordered a probation report to assess the dangerousness of Christopher Pennington and how much of a risk he poses to children.

Pennington, 39, of Chapel Lane, Aldington, Evesham, pleaded guilty to six charges when he appeared by video link, including one of attempting to arrange the commission of a sex offence against an eight-year-old girl.

The court heard Pennington had tried to arrange online to commit the offence between April 6 and April 12 this year, but it was a fake arrangement set up by an undercover police officer.

Pennington also pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a young girl in August last year.

He also admitted downloading a total of 163 indecent images of children between August 13 last year and April 28 this year and of distributing one indecent image of a child.

He was ordered to register as a sex offender and Judge Robert Juckes, QC ordered a pre-sentence report to focus on the issue of dangerousness.

He warned Pennington he would be facing a jail sentence when he next appears before the court on Friday, August 4.
