Pervert sentenced for downloading indecent images including babies being raped
A Shepton Mallet man who admitted downloading hundreds of vile indecent images including babies being raped and humans performing sex acts with animals wept in the dock as he was branded ‘appalling’ and ‘disgusting’ by a judge.
Stuart Henry Horn committed the offences over a period of nine years, viewing material spanning the whole range of categories of seriousness along with extreme pornography.
Horn, 59, of Draycott Road, had previously admitted that between May 7, 2007 and December 2, 2016 he made 216 indecent images and moving pictures of a child in the most serious Category A.
He also admitted two similar offences in the same nine year period involving 149 Category B indecent images of children and 568 Category C indecent images of children.
He also pleaded guilty that on December 1, 2016 he possessed 105 extreme pornographic images which portrayed in an explicit and realistic way a person performing an act of intercourse with a live or dead animal which was grossly offensive or of a disgusting or obscene character.
Prosecuting, Nikki Coombe said police had gone to his house after receiving information about his internet activities and that Horn had been ‘extremely frank’ with them.
“Straight away, he said: ‘I’m sorry, I’ve been dabbling’,” she said. “He told them he hadn’t been able to stop himself. His computer was open and unlocked and the police would see thumbnail images of children on it.
“When he was arrested, he told them he couldn’t cope with prison. He was extremely tearful and he made full and frank admissions.”
Sentencing Horn, Judge David Ticehurst told asked him how he would feel if his young grandson had been abused like the children in the photographs and videos he had downloaded.
“The mental and physical scars left on those poor children is incalculable,” he said. “And it’s only because of people like you – perverts – that these children are being abused.
“These are real people, real babies, real children being abused. You should be disgusted and ashamed of yourself.”
For the category A images, Horn was sentenced to 15 months in prison, a further nine months for the category B images and six months for the category C images.
For the extreme pornography, he was sentenced to a further 15 months, with all sentences to run concurrently and all suspended for two years.
He was also ordered to carry out 30 days of rehabilitation activity, complete a 42 day internet sex offender programme and made the subject of an Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
He will also be on the sex offender’s register for five years and was ordered to pay £500 costs.
