Peeping Tom pervert drilled hole in door to spy on teenage girl
A pervert drilled a hole in a door and “strategically positioned a mirror” so he could spy on a teenage girl to get his sexual kicks.
Duncan Brownley carried out the act of voyeurism at an address in South Derbyshire in June last year, Derby Crown Court was told.
But he was snared when another teenage girl spotted him looking through the hole he had created. She told the victim who spoke to a friend and the police became involved.
The 48-year-old was arrested and denied the charge, meaning the teenager had to relive her ordeal when she came to court to give evidence at his trial.
A jury found him guilty of one count of engaging in a private act for his sexual gratification and he was jailed for four months.
The mother of the victim read out her own victim impact statement in court.
In it she said: “Our whole lives have been turned upside down because of his actions and I worry continuously of the impact this has had on my daughter. am not a vindictive person but I hope he is suffering and pays the price.”
Both the mother and the victim cannot be named for legal reasons.
Laura Pitman, prosecuting, said Brownley, of High Street, Hatherleigh, Devon, carried out the act of voyeurism last year.
Miss Pitman said: “A girl told police she had seen this defendant peeping through a hole in the door to look at her.”
Jailing Brownley, Judge Nirmal Shant QC said: “This was not just peeping because you strategically positioned a mirror and looked through a hole you drilled in the door to observe your victim.
As well as the jail term, Judge Shant handed Brownley a sexual harm prevention order which restricts the contact he can have with girls aged under 18 on his release.
