Tamworth pervert caught with disgusting images of young girls has jail term slashed

A TAMWORTH pervert caught with disgusting photos and videos of young girls has had his jail term slashed by top judges.

Warped Danny Richardson, 25, of Redlake, was jailed for 30 months and six weeks at Stafford Crown Court on January 5.

Two videos in the most depraved category, featuring young girls aged about 10, were found on his mobile phone, Mr Justice Edis told London’s Appeal Court.

Examination of a computer seized in September 2016 uncovered 30 images in the most serious category, as well as 90 other indecent photos.

Richardson admitted three counts of making indecent images of children and one of possessing them.

He also pleaded guilty to possession of an extreme pornographic image, failing to comply with notification requirements and two breaches of a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO).

The SHPO had been imposed on Richardson in September 2015 when he was sentenced to a community order for three counts of possession of indecent images of children.

He breached it in May and October last year by failing to make a mobile phone available to police for inspection on request.

He also failed to notify the authorities about his address, as required.

The extra six weeks was tacked onto his sentence after he breached a suspended sentence imposed in September 2015 for aggravating vehicle-taking and driving with excess alcohol.

Simon Hunka, for Richardson, argued today that his jail term was far too tough and ought to be cut.

And Mr Justice Edis, sitting with Lord Justice Hickinbottom and Judge Martin Picton, agreed.

“We consider that the overall length of the sentence is manifestly excessive,” ruled the judge.

Richardson’s total jail term was cut to 22 months.
