Perverted teenager jailed after he abused three little girls

A GLENROTHES teenager who sexually abused three little girls was locked up for a year at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court last Thursday.

James Thomson (17) abused the girls, aged four, six and eight, at an address in Kennoway a number of times over five months in 2001.

Sentencing him to detention, Sheriff Francis Keane told him what he had done would stay with his victims all their lives.

He told Thomson, of Prestonhall Avenue, Glenrothes: “These children trusted you. Offences like these mark victims generally for the rest of their lives. “It is because of the gravity of these offences and the fact the public must be made perfectly aware that conduct such as this will not be tolerated that I consider, despite your age, that only a custodial sentence is appropriate.”

However, he also warned members of the public not to take the law into their own hands following incidents against Thomson, who was 15 years old when he committed the crimes.

The full-time student, had admitted using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards the girls on various occasions between July 1 and November 23, 2001.

Procurator Fiscal Depute, David Scott, described the offences as reprehensible.

Thomson’s parents, who have continued to support him, were with him in court.

Following his release he will be under licence for a further year, with conditions set by the Secretary of State. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
