Glasgow football coach caught with horrific child images with animals fails to start sex offender rehab – more than A YEAR after he walked free
A FOOTBALL coach who groomed teenage boys and was caught with a horrendous stash of indecent images of children featuring animals has failed to start court-ordered treatment – more than A YEAR after he walked free.
David McDade of Mannering Road, Shawlands had sexual chats with young players through his role in boys clubs, after asking them if they wanted to train with his team.
And, when officers investigating his crimes raided his home, the 54-year-old was also caught with indecent images showing children engaged in sex acts with animals.
McDade admitted the chats “aroused” his “sexual fantasies” and was spared jail for the offences, instead being placed on a Community Payback Order (CPO) at Paisley Sheriff Court.
But it has now emerged he has yet to begin key treatment programmes to stop him reoffending – more than a year after being ordered to take part in them.
McDade is supposed to undertake the Moving Forward, Making Changes and Clyde Quay Programmes, which help sex offenders change their ways, as part of his CPO.
But he has been unable to start them in the 16 months since he was given his CPO, amid suggestions there is no room for him on the courses.
The revelation comes at a time when the Scottish Football Association and Police Scotland are investigating child abuse in Scottish football.
In April, the Scottish Football Association appealed for any abuse victims to contact them as fresh allegations of sexual offences in youth football came to light following a BBC documentary.
Police Scotland launched a major inquiry into non-recent child abuse in football at the end of last year and, in February, the force said it had received 140 reports of alleged abuse.
When McDade appeared in the dock this week for a CPO progress review, defence solicitor James Arrol said: “Nothing has moved forward in respect of the Moving Forward, Making Changes Programme or Clyde Quay Project.
“From Mr McDade’s position, he has engaged fully.
“There is an application [from the social work department] for an extension of time [of the length of Mr McDade’s CPO] but it does not tell us – in any way, shape or form – how long they are requesting.”
Soccer coach sent sex texts to teen boys
A football coach who trained teenagers at Glasgow boys’ football clubs has been unmasked as a pervert who befriended young males and kept a hoard of indecent images on his computer.
David McDade won the confidence of club officials, but the 53-year-old bachelor secretly collected pictures of teen males in sexual poses and performing acts on older men.
Paisley Sheriff Court heard how McDade infiltrated Castlemilk Boys FC and Whitecraigs AFC in 2014, but parents began to voice concerns after he began to send inappropriate text messages to some of the boys.
McDade of Mannering Road, Shawlands, admitted three charges of sending sexual messages to an older child and one of possessing sexual images of children.
He was given a two-year community payback order of 300 hours of unpaid work, and was ordered to surrender any web-enabled devices and was prohibited from going online unsupervised.
