Pervert caught with more than 1,000 sick child abuse movies and animal porn
A South Derbyshire pervert who admitted he has a sexual interest in children avoided being sent to jail immediately despite being caught with more than 1,000 sick child abuse movies.
Martyn Dunks, of Foss Road, Hilton, had 1,213 indecent films and images stored away on electronic devices, almost half of which were the most serious category A, which would typically show young children in sexual activity with adults.
Three more extreme pornographic movies involving a woman engaged in a sex act with a dog were also discovered when police raided his Hilton home, Derby Crown Court heard.
And after first answering “no comment” to the questions detectives quizzed him with, he later admitted he had been downloading the sick moving footage and images for more than three years.
Handing the 31-year-old a 10-month jail term, suspended for two years, Judge Nirmal Shant QC said: “Your offending went on for a long period of time and this is a serious matter.
“The public are rightly concerned by people such as yourself who view images and movies like this.
“You candidly accept in your (pre-sentence) report that you have an [sexual] interest in children and that this may have come from your own experiences as a young person.
“I have to confess I am concerned with some of the things I read about you. But I have to consider the risk you pose and how best you can be managed.
“The probation service says they can work with you and you want to work with them.”
Steven Taylor, prosecuting, said police raided his communal home, in Hilton, at 6.40am on October 18 last year.
He said Dunks was in bed at the time and when police told him why they had issued a warrant he replied: “I know what it is all about” and showed them where his computer was.
Analysis of the drives revealed 567 of the most serious category A films and 30 images.
Also found were 348 category B movies and 25 pictures; 298 category C films and 57 images and the three extreme pornographic movies.
Mr Taylor said: “Search terms were also discovered that are consistent with the defendant searching the internet for indecent child images.
“In his first police interview he answered ‘no comment’ but then when he was interviewed again, he made full and frank admissions.
“He said he had been abused himself as a child and that he accepted he had a sexual interest in young children, which had developed over a period of time.”
Dunks pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images and possessing three extreme pornographic movies, depicting a woman with a dog, between October 18, 2012 and October 18, 2016.
As well as the suspended jail term he was handed a sexual harm prevention order and was ordered to work with the probation service to address his offending.
He must also carry out 180 hours’ unpaid work.
