This man tried to meet a teenage girl for sex – and took a kidnap kit with him

A Facebook groomer has been jailed after police found him with a kidnap kit including an axe, balaclava, CS spray, duct tape and condoms.

Patrick Brezovsky arranged to meet a 14-year-old girl at Exeter bus station after sending her sexualised Facebook messages but was intercepted by police.

They found the axe under the driver’s seat of his car, two condoms on the central console, and the balaclava, duct tape, ladies tights and spray in the boot.

He also had a blue flashing light which could be put on the dashboard to make it look as if he was connected to the emergency services and a piece of riding kit which looked like police body armour.

Car park attendant Brezovsky, aged 23, had already been caught five months earlier with two 14-year-old girls in his car after he persuaded them to run away from home by offering them cannabis.

On that occasion he was stopped by police in Exeter after the father of one of the girls realised she was missing and found his Facebook contact on her phone.

Slovakian Brezovsky, of Canon Way , Exeter , admitted meeting a child after grooming and five offences of possessing bladed articles or prohibited weapons.

He was jailed for four years and six months by Recorder Mr Ignatius Hughes, QC, at Exeter Crown Court, ordered to sign on the sex offenders’ register and made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order which will restrict his contact with children on his release.

Miss Judith Cornwall, prosecuting, said Brezovsky was arrested for the first set of offences on June 20 last year after the father of a 14-year-old girl alerted police she had left home without permission at 11.30 on a Sunday night.

Facebook contacts showed she had arranged for him to meet her and take her to Tiverton to buy cannabis. Police stopped him in Russell Way , Exeter , at 1.45 am and seized two flick knives and a CS gas spray. He said he had brought them back from Slovakia and they were intended as presents for friends.

He was bailed but on November 24 he made contact with a vulnerable 14-year-old girl on Facebook. She told him she was bullied, depressed and self harming, but he flattered her and arranged to meet her that night for sex.

She took a bus to Exeter but told a schoolfriend what she was doing and she told her mother. The police were alerted and met the bus as it arrived.

At the same time they stopped Brezovsky at the Princesshay car park, just yards away.

Miss Cornwall said:”He had two condoms, a CS canister in a sports bag, an axe under the mat behind the driver’s seat. In the boot there was a balaclava, gloves, tape, a blue flashing light and a stab proof vest.

“These items are clearly a matter of concern given that he was meeting a young girl and it was clear from the messaging he was interested in sex.

“The girl made a victim impact statement saying she realised how fortunate she was that he was intercepted and cannot stop thinking about what could have happened to her.”
