Shiremoor pervert jailed after Dark Justice catch him trying to meet a child for sex
A pervert who tried to meet a child for sex and told her to delete his phone number in case people branded him a “paedo” has been jailed.
Anthony Morgan thought he was chatting to a real 13-year-old but had been duped by Newcastle paedophile hunters Dark Justice.
Unaware it was a decoy profile, 51-year-old dad Morgan tried to pressure “Amy13” into sending him indecent pictures and meeting him for sexual activity and told her she was “too shy” following sleazy online messages.
But when he turned up at Newcastle Central Station to meet her, he was confronted by the vigilantes and made off.
Now Morgan, of Lesbury Avenue, Shiremoor, North Tyneside, has been locked up for 21 months at Newcatle Crown Court for attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.
The court heard Morgan made contact with the fictitious girl’s online profile in August 2015 and their chat moved to Whatsapp.
Prosecutor David Lamb said: “The conversation over social media application Whatsapp continued between the defendant and Amy13, before it turned sexual in nature, despite the fact Amy13 made it clear she was only 13-years-old.”
Morgan engaged in filthy chat about what he wanted to do, asked for indecent pictures and requested a meeting at Central Station.
Having described what he would be wearing, he was met by Dark Justice when he turned up.
Mr Lamb said: “He was confronted and initially walked off but was later arrested after police were informed of the communications.
“The conversations showed a clear pattern of sexual grooming in conversations between them.”
Referring to some of the messages, Judge Amanda Rippon said: “He says others might call him a paedo as a result of her age and he asks her to delete his phone number.
“There was a degree of pressure put on Amy.
“He spent some considerable time trying to persuade her and told her she was too shy and it would be a waste of his time to meet her if nothing was going to happen.”
The judge added: “He was going to have sex with this child.”
As well as the prison sentence, Morgan was given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and must sign the sex offenders register for ten years.
Turning to Morgan, Judge Rippon said: “You suggested she was too shy and would get nowhere in life if she wasn’t more assertive.
“If she had been a real girl I’ve no doubt you would have committed a sexual offence against her.
