Pervert dad, 23, caught with child abuse images and extreme animal porn
Pervert dad-of-two Matthew Slater has been placed on the sex offenders’ register after being caught with child abuse images on his computer.
The 23-year-old was also found to be in possession of extreme pornographic pictures – featuring animals – following a raid at his home.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard officers searched his house on November 15 last year, and he was arrested at Astra Zeneca in Macclesfield, where he worked at the time.
Prosecutor David Bennett said: “Police recovered a large amount of computer equipment including an external hard drive, a laptop computer and a USB stick.
“Following examination of the items indecent images of children were recovered from all three, along with three images of an extreme pornographic nature.
“These involved people engaging in sexual activity with animals.”
A total of 200 still images and 202 videos were found. Just under half of these were classed as Category A – the most serious classification used by police.
The court heard some of the images, which were downloaded over a two-year-period, involved infants.
During two police interviews Slater, of Tunstall Road, Biddulph, answered ‘no comment’ to all questions but denied being a danger to children.
He went on to plead guilty to three charges of making indecent images of children and one of possession of extreme pornographic images.
The court heard Slater had a ‘disturbing’ upbringing.
Jason Holt, mitigating, said: “He has had few intimate relationships, instead preferring to engage in sexual encounters through the internet, usually via Tinder.
“He has had two relationships and has fathered two children as a result. He is responsible and wants to play an active part in those children’s lives.
“His last partner and child have been the victim of a vicious verbal attack as a result of these proceedings and police are on high alert and believe he is going to be attacked at some point.
“This adds to any punishment he will receive.”
Mr Holt added: “A community order will help him realise the problems he has and help him deal with them.”
Judge David Fletcher handed Slater a three-year community order with a 25-day rehabilitation activity requirement. He must also complete a programme to address sexual offending behaviour.
Judge Fletcher said: “You have pleaded guilty to these four offences which are not only serious, but are also likely to have repercussions for you going forward. You have only yourself to blame for that.
“All the time you are looking at these images you are supporting a world-wide trade in degrading young children – a trade that would not exist if it weren’t for people like you.
“These are real children who are being horribly assaulted for your benefit.”
Judge Fletcher also imposed a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order to regulate Slater’s use of devices that can access the internet.
Slater will be on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years.
