Lorry driver who sexually abused schoolgirls jailed

A lorry driver who sexually abused schoolgirls in the back of his cab has been jailed for seven years and seven months.

Ian Rose carried out the assaults on the youngsters when they were aged from around 10 to 15.

Bristol Crown Court heard they reported Rose to police, separately, after bottling up the abuse for decades.

Rose, 56, lived near Bristol at the time but now resides in Hartington Place, Letchworth Garden City, in Hertfordshire.

He was due to face a trial but pleaded guilty to two indecent assaults and two counts of indecency with a child regarding the first girl and four indecent assaults on the second.

The recorder Mr Paul Dunkels QC told him: “Your behaviour has caused them a great deal of distress and left them with ongoing problems.”

Rose was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely.

Philip Warren, prosecuting, said Rose touched the girls intimately and made one touch him intimately on multiple occasions.

Mr Warren said Rose took the girls on trips in his lorry and abused them in the back of his lorry cab.
