Aberdeen pervert had thousands of indecent images of children
A man has admitted having thousands of indecent images of children – as well as setting up a camera that secretly recorded two women.
Mervin Hardy, 59, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted concealing a camera and recording two people in the shower.
He also admitted downloading and possessing indecent images of children between August 19, 2012, and August 18 last year.
The offences came to light after police became aware of an IP address being used in relation to indecent images of children.
Fiscal depute Laura Begg said: “It became apparent the accused had knowledge of why police were there, he said ‘it’s only me you have to speak to’.”
Examination of devices seized revealed a total of 6,264 images, the majority at category C – the least severe group.
Ms Begg said 130 indecent videos of children were also found.
Sheriff Alison Stirling deferred sentence on Hardy, whose address was given as Rosebank Gardens, Aberdeen, until next month.
