A junior doctor from south London has been jailed for making more than 50,000 indecent images of children.
Dr Ediz Ekrem, 31, was found to have a catalogue of indecent images on his laptop and hard drive after police raided his Dulwich home last October.
Officers from the Met’s Paedophile unit discovered 187 images deemed to be in the “most serious” category which showed the rape and torture of young children
They also found 92 category B images and more than 50,000 in category C.
Ekrem, who lives on Lordship Lane, was employed part-time by a south London hospital in the paediatric unit when he was arrested.
The General Medical Council was informed and immediately withdrew his licence to practice medicine, pending the outcome of the police investigation.
After initially giving a “no comment” interview to police, the junior doctor pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of children in court on April 5.
Ekrem was today sentenced to 16 months behind bars at Croydon Crown Court and handed a Sexual Harm Protection Order for 10 years.
