Pervert installed hidden camera in bathroom and filmed victims showering
A pervert installed a hidden camera in his bathroom and secretly filmed two victims showering.
Stanley Harris, 68, of Devonshire Road, Oxton, Wirral, spied on a child, a young woman and their mum when they visited his home.
But the OAP was caught out when he took his laptop to a computer repair shop and his seedy videos were discovered.
Liverpool Crown Court heard Harris asked staff at the Bebington store to transfer some data on June 16 last year.
Christopher Hopkins, prosecuting, said a technician spotted an indecent video of a child having a shower.
Harris had also installed Tor browser, which provides access to the “Dark Web” and can be used to hide online activity.
The worker called police, who raided the pensioner’s home on June 26, seized his computer and arrested him.
Harris claimed he installed Tor so he could browse the internet faster and denied using it to view indecent pictures.
He refused to say who the girl on the video was. His computer was then thoroughly examined and he was interviewed again.
Police found one Category A – the most serious category – image, showing a schoolgirl having sex with a male, plus two Category C pictures.
Mr Hopkins said: “He maintained that he knew nothing about how they appeared on his computer.”
The laptop contained a 12-minute video of a girl having a shower and a 15-minute video of a young woman having a shower, while another adult female undressed.
Mr Hopkins said: “The defendant set up a concealed camera in the bathroom and filmed his two victims when they were showering.
“It appears their mother also features in that second video undressing in the bathroom.”
Harris told police he set up the camera because he was obsessed with the mum and recording the daughters was accidental.
This was not accepted by prosecutors and Judge Brian Cummings, QC, said he did not accept it either.
The mum told the court: “Having to tell my daughters what he has done will haunt me for the rest of my life.”
The eldest victim said: “I have cried and had many sleepless nights. To know he has been watching me without me knowing sickens me.”
Harris, who has no previous convictions, admitted two counts of downloading, one of taking and one of possessing indecent images of children, plus voyeurism.
The court heard Harris suggested the indecent images were put on his laptop by someone else in a further interview.
However, Judge Cummings said: “I do not accept that he has no sexual interest in children.”
Judge Cummings jailed him for 13 months and told him to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
