“Sadistic and perverted monster” raped two little girls in front of their mum
A “sadistic and perverted monster” who raped and abused two little girls in front of their mum has been jailed for 19 years.
Alfred Dillon, 65, of Whitefield Drive, Kirkby, targeted a pair of neglected and vulnerable sisters in the 1970s.
Liverpool Crown Court heard he visited their alcoholic mum to drink and have casual sex, then molested the children.
Prosecutors said Dillon even forced one of the girls to perform a sex act on him while having sex with her mum.
Dillon denied any wrongdoing, but was found guilty after a trial of eight sexual offences, including indecent assault and rape.
Judge Andrew Menary, QC, said the mum was a “completely inadequate parent” who spent most of the day drunk.
He said: “These girls were utterly neglected and into their already chaotic lives, their mum brought you.
“The evidence suggests that you were regularly violent towards her, beating and threatening her in front of the children.
“When you were not having sex with their semi-conscious mother, you from time to time, turned your attentions to them.
“What you did to and with these little girls was beyond depraved.
“It was not unusual for you to be having intercourse with the woman at the same time that one or other of the girls was made by you to watch.”
On one occasion when the woman was out, Dillon called at the house and raped one of the victims.
Judge Menary said: “She still recalls the smell of the drink and your sneering face.
“Throughout you were saying to her that if she told anyone her mum was going to die.
“You told them that if anything was said to anyone, they would go into care and their mother would die.
“The girls had no one, no adequate mother, no family, no teacher, no one they could trust.
“And so this dark secret lay hidden for 40 years. But the demons never left.”
One of the sisters later suffered from severe depression, tried to commit suicide and was sectioned at a psychiatric unit.
The victim went through 16 rounds of electroconvulsive therapy, just “so she could carry out basic daily tasks”.
Martine Snowdon, prosecuting, said: “She describes her life being changed forever at the hands of a sadistic and perverted monster.
“She said ‘if he goes to prison it doesn’t matter for how long, because he will never be imprisoned for as long as I have been’.”
The other woman said she was never able to trust or have healthy relationships with men and felt “very damaged”.
She developed an eating disorder then suffered from nightmares and flashbacks, which made her feel “depressed, worthless and scared”.
Ms Snowdon said: “She felt he enjoyed seeing them scared and putting fear into them.
“Whenever they told him to leave them alone, he would laugh, grin and carry on anyway.”
Sarah Holt, defending, said her client, who has previous convictions for violence and dishonesty, “maintains his innocence”.
Judge Menary said Dillon was an offender of particular concern, meaning he must serve an extended year on licence.
He will spend at least half of his sentence in jail and only be released if a parole board decides he is no longer a risk.
Judge Menary ordered the paedophile to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
As he was sent down, Dillon shouted “only God knows” while a daughter in the public gallery yelled: “Dad I love you, Dad I believe you.”
