Irvine man who raped 12-year-old girl after assaulting woman jailed for six years

An Irvine pervert who raped a 12-year-old girl just hours after sexually assaulting a 36-year-old woman has been jailed for six years and four months.

James Clark, 25, raped the schoolgirl after telling her: “It’s alright you’re over 16.”

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, lied and told him she was 13 and Clark replied: “Are you. That’s alright then, it’s fine.”

The girl kept telling Clark to stop and get off her.

Friends who saw the girl shortly afterwards said she looked upset, as if she had been crying and was Intoxicated.

The police were called and Clark admitted the girl had been in his flat, but replied “no comment” to questions about sexual activity.

His DNA was subsequently found in the girl’s underpants.

At the High Court in Glasgow last month, Clark, of Irvine, North Ayrshire, admitting raping the 12-year-old at his home on April 14, 2016.

Clark also pled guilty to sexually assaulting a 36-year-old woman at a house in Irvine earlier on April 14, last year, by making indecent remarks to her and pinning her against a sofa.

At the time of the offences Clark was intoxicated and said he had also taken Diazepam.

Clark, a dad-of-two, has previous convictions for violence.

Judge Lady Scott deferred sentence and called for reports about his character. 

On Tuesday, at the High Court in Edinburgh, judge Lady Scott told Clark that she had no other option but to send him to prison.

Man raped girl, 12, at his home

A man raped a 12-year-old girl telling her it was “all right”, shortly after he sexually assaulted a woman, a court has heard.

James Clark, 25, of Hill street in Irvine, North Ayrshire, pled guilty to the rape at his flat, which happened in April 2016.

At the High Court in Glasgow, he also admitted making indecent remarks to a 36-year-old and pinning her down.

Clark was remanded in custody and placed on the sex offenders register ahead of sentencing next month.

The court heard how Clark had told the girl: “It’s all right you’re over 16.”

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, lied and told him she was 13 and he replied: “Are you? That’s all right then, it’s fine.”

The girl kept telling Clark to stop and get off her.
