Staffordshire pervert had hundreds of vile child sex images and a stun gun

Detectives who raided a Staffordshire man’s home found hundreds of vile child porn images on computers. Pervert Daniel Wilson had more than 250 child abuse images on two computers. Officers also found a stun gun hidden under a bed during the search, a court has heard.

The 36-year-old pervert, of Parklands, Kidsgrove, has been handed a one year prison sentence suspended for 24 months. Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard police searched his home on July 5, 2016.

The court was told by Richard Mcconaghy, prosecuting, that computers were seized. He said: “A total of 279 still and moving images were found. There was also extreme pornographic images. A stun gun was found underneath his bed.”

Wilson was arrested and went on to plead guilty to possessing a stun gun, three charges of making indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image.

Simon Leech, defending, said the defendant had acquired the stun gun when he was a young teenager and it ‘wasn’t in working order’.

He said: “It was full of gel inside which prevented any electrical circuit. When it was discovered it had been under his bed for 20 years. It was his understanding that it wasn’t in working order.

“It was given to him because the older teenagers couldn’t make it work. He presents as a responsible young man with an exceptional work ethic. There is nothing to suggest that his livelihood is in jeopardy and he has references from his current employer.

“In terms of the downloading they seem to occur in small bursts over a five or six-year period. It can’t be said that there is a concentrated interest.”

Judge David Fletcher also made Wilson the subject of a five-year sexual harm prevention order and he will be on the sex offenders’ register for seven years.

The judge told him: “You’re 36 years old and have never been in trouble before and you pleaded guilty at your first chance. When I read the explanation you gave to the probation officer I don’t want you to think I swallowed it hook, line and sinker. One doesn’t simply stumble across this kind of material and I’m satisfied that’s not the case.

“Children are being vilely exploited because there is a ready-made market of people willing to look at them. These are real people who are being abused, according to the Burton Mail’s sister title the Stoke Sentinel.

“I’m willing to say that this was an unusable stun gun that was recovered. It was something you came into possession to when you were much younger.”
