December 2017: Stalley has now moved to the Glenburn area of Paisley
Paisley perv who admitted having sex with a 14-year-girl is spared jail despite grooming another schoolgirl
A pervert who groomed a 14-year-old online has dodged jail after he was cleared of wrongdoing against another schoolgirl.
Paedophile Steven Stalley, 28, was facing up to five years behind bars after he admitting to grooming a different 14-year-old online.
But he dodged prison when he appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court today to be sentenced for targeting the youngster between January 3 and January 11 last year.
The youngster Stalley groomed – who can’t be named for legal reasons – told him she was only 14 but the creep replied: “That don’t bother me at all.”
In May 2014, Stalley walked free from the High Court in Paisley after having sex with a 14-year-old girl he had seduced at a flat in Paisley.
The girl told the jury they began having sex but said it became too painful so she asked Stalley to stop.
Dr Deborah Wardle, a medical consultant for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, examined the teen after the alleged sex attack and told the court the injuries to her private parts were among the worst she had ever seen.
But after being told Stalley thought the girl was 16 and stopped having sex with her after she asked, the jury cleared him of all wrongdoing.
In the latest trial that concluded today, the youngster Stalley groomed – who can’t be named for legal reasons – told him she was only 14 but the creep replied: “That don’t bother me at all.”
Stalley – who posted a picture on Facebook of him wearing a “body off Baywatch, face off Crimewatch” t-shirt – begged the girl to add him on the social media site.
He told the schoolgirl she was “bloody beautiful”.
But she rejected his advances and told her mum.
Stalley admitted his guilt over the illicit contact in January this year, pleading guilty to intentionally sending sexual messages to the girl through Facebook messenger over a nine-day period whilst she was under 16.
The court heard Stalley is in prison for a Glasgow Sheriff Court case which has a Supervised Release Order attached, meaning he will be monitored in the community once released from custody.
In February, Sheriff James Spy said: “I want a better picture of what’s going to be in place for him in terms of his Supervised Release Order.
“I’ll consider whether or not I can let you out in terms of this matter or whether I have to give you another sentence.”
And, when Stalley returned to the dock today, he was spared prison.
Sheriff Spy placed him on a Community Payback Order (CPO), which will see him supervised by social workers and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 30 months.
His CPO is due to begin in around two weeks when he is released.
The Sheriff also told Stalley to take part in the Moving Forward, Making Changes Programme, which seeks to help sex offenders change their ways.
Stalley was banned from contacting children under the age of 18, told to attend counselling for alcohol and drug abuse, banned from owning any device capable of storing digital images, banned from deleting his internet search history, and is not allowed to own or use the internet “unless prior approval is given” by his supervisor.
Pervert bombarded schoolgirl, 14, with vile sex messages
A pervert who bombarded a schoolgirl with sick messages has had his sentence put off as he is already serving jail time.
Vile Steven Stalley, 27, admitted sending the girl a serious of sexually explicit messages despite knowing she was just 14-years-old at the time
But when the creep appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court this week a sheriff decided to bump his sentence after it was revealed he was already serving 21 months for assault and robbery.
The court previously heard that Stalley, formerly of Ferguslie, was busted sending messages to the girl after her cousin posted them online and were seen by 10,000 people.
Depute fiscal Scott Dignan previously told the court the 14 year-old schoolgirl did not know the accused, who was 26, personally.
She said: “At around quarter to six in the morning of January 3, 2016, the witness received a message on her Facebook Messenger service from the profile of the accused Steven Stalley.
“It said, ‘Hey sexy legs, how’s you been doing and what you been up to?’ This was followed by a friend request for that particular witness. She accepted the friend request however she did not initially reply to the message.
The court heard that he continued hounding the girl despite her protestations.
“The complainer at that date has actually replied, ‘I’m 14 mate’. The accused has replied, ‘You don’t really look it babes, you look about 18’.
“The witness persists ‘No I’m 14 sorry’. To which the accused has replied “That don’t bother me at all”. The witness has called him a pervert.
“The accused has replied “Just saying you are sexy as f**k.
“The accused has persisted I his attempts to get the witness to add him as a friend on Facebook stating “Please princess it’ll be worth it. It will just take two mins. You have the hottest legs ever babe I’d like them wrapped round me right now.”
“The witness in this particular matter has ended the conversations by saying “Actually GTF”
It was then revealed that the girl, who can’t be named for legal reasons, shared the messages with her cousin who put them online.
They were shared 10,000 time and the police became aware and moved to arrest Stalley.
When he returned to court this week, Sheriff James Spy told him his sentence should run its course.
He said: “I’ll consider whether or not I can let you out in terms of this matter or whether I have to give you another sentence.”
Stalley will return to court on June 12 to learn his fate.
