Brixham man given suspended sentence for indecently assaulting a girl

A 41-year-old man has been given a suspended prison sentence for indecently assaulting a girl more than a decade ago.

Graham Rupp, of Rowan Way, in Brixham, put his hands inside the girl’s dress, rubbed her back with his hand and nuzzled his face into her neck, Exeter Crown Court was told.

He was convicted by a jury at trial after denying the offence.

Rupp, the court was told, assaulted the girl when she was aged about 12.

Recorder Philip Mott QC said: “You were convicted by the jury on the most compelling evidence.

“You targeted a young victim and there was a significant disparity in age.”

Rupp was given six months in jail, suspended for two years. He was told to sign the Sex Offender Register and pay £1,200 costs.
