Pervert jailed over sex acts with schoolgirl

A man has been jailed for more than three years for his sexual liaisons with a girl who became “besotted” with him.

Philip Gainford met the underage girl on the beach, had sex with her and she sent him 291 pictures of herself.

He listed her number on his phone under the name “my princess”, Teesside Crown Court heard

The 30-year-old man carried on his communication with the schoolgirl despite the fact it had already landed him in the dock.

Gainford, who used the name “iamsoevil” online, exchanged hundreds of messages with her, it was revealed.

They then went on to repeatedly meet, prosecutor Harry Hadfield said. Gainford had been given a suspended prison sentence and an indefinite sexual harm prevention order in October last year for sexual offences involving the girl – his first conviction.

He was ordered to stay away from her, but months later they resumed contact and ended up meeting for sex.

The latest crimes came to light when a public protection officer made a routine visit to his home.

Gainford, of Troutpool Close, Hartlepool , admitted two charges of sexual activity with a child, four of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, one of breaching a sexual harm prevention order and one of possessing indecent photographs of children.

Judge Sean Morris told Gainford: “If I’d been dealing with an average individual I would have thrown the book at you, and hard.

“As it is, I have to pass an immediate custodial sentence because that I think is the only way you’re going to learn.

“I do not consider you a danger to young women.

“Should you ever commit any form of sexual offence against any girl in the future, you will be regarded as dangerous and could be looking at a life sentence.

Gainford was jailed for three years and four months and will be on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
