Former foster carer jailed for grooming underage girls
A former foster carer who groomed a teenager over the internet and filmed himself sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl has been jailed for seven years.
Clifford Warde, 50, was caught after the mother of one of his victims intercepted messages he sent to her 14-year-old daughter.
Police then arrested Warde and discovered the videos.
Warde, of Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire, pled guilty at an earlier hearing.
At the High Court in Edinburgh, Judge Lord Boyd told Warde that he had no other option but to send him to prison.
Warde, a prisoner of HMP Barlinnie, admitted the sex offences at the High Court in Glasgow last month. Sentence had been deferred for the court to obtain reports.
The offences took place in Clackmannanshire between November 2014 and March 2016.
At earlier proceedings, prosecutor Mark McGuire told the court the messages sent to the 14-year-old girl were “too graphic” to read in open court.
Wade, a former foster career, targeted his other victim as she turned 13, when he began texting graphic sexual messages to her.
The court was told that on a number of occasions Warde recorded himself sexually abusing the girl.
The girl later told police she had felt embarrassed about the video recordings being made.
On Wednesday, defence advocate Frances Connor told the court that Warde had expressed remorse for his actions.
Lord Boyd also placed Warde on the Sex Offenders Register.
Foster carer filmed himself abusing 13-year-old girl
A former foster carer repeatedly filmed himself abusing a 13-year-old girl.
Clifford Warde, 50, also groomed a 14-year-old on the internet and was caught when her mother read the sexual messages he sent her daughter.
The shocked mother immediately phoned the police who seized 50-year-old Clifford Warde’s phone and found videos of him having sex with his 13-year-old victim.
At the High Court in Glasgow on Tuesday, Warde, from Clackmannanshire, admitted grooming a 14-year-old for sex and sexually abusing the other teenage girl.
He committed the offences between November 2014 and March 2016.
First offender Warde worked as a self-employed courier as well as being a foster carer.
Prosecutor Mark McGuire told judge Lord Boyd the messages sent to the 14-year-old girl were “too graphic” to read in open court.
Mr McGuire said: “The accused’s initially told the girl she had pretty eyes after she sent him a selfie and gave her a virtual kiss.
“His conduct moved from the inappropriate to the criminal when he suggested he should come and pick her up and take her for a drive.”
The court heard Warde sent a series of sexually explicit messages to the girl. They were discovered when her mother checked her Facebook usage and she immediately contacted the police.
Warde targeted his other victim when she turned 13. He began by texting her graphic messages and then progressed to engaging in illegal sexual activity with her.
Mr McGuire said: “The sexual messaging was graphic and explicit.”
The court was told on a number of occasions Warde recorded himself sexually abusing the girl.
Mr McGuire added: “At no time during this abuse did the accused ever use contraception.”
The girl, when asked about the video recording by police, told them she had felt embarrassed about them being made.
In court, Warde admitted making arrangements for the 14-year-old girl to travel to meet him with the intention of taking part in unlawful sexual activity.
He also pleaded guilty to having under-age sex with the other girl and sending her sexually explicit messages.
Lord Boyd deferred sentence on Warde until December 7 for background reports.
