Caldicot man jailed for sex with underage girl

A CALDICOT man was sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment after admitting to sexual activity with a girl under 16.

James Hole, 26, of Green Lane, pleaded guilty to the charge last month on the day he was due to stand trial over the charge.

Prosecuting, Martyn Kelly told Cardiff Crown Court how the girl had gone out with a friend.

He said Hole knew how old the friend of the girl was and so would have known how old the girl was too.

The court heard how the girls had bought some money with them which Hole used to buy cider.

After getting drunk, the girl then walked to a football field with Hole where the two had sex before the girl was sick.

Hole then left the girl on the football pitch.

A short while later, people who saw the girl became concerned about her and called the police.

Defending, David Elias said the sexual activity was consensual.

Judge William Gaskell said: “You knew she was very drunk and you took her away from others and had sex with her.

“You knew she wasn’t in control of herself.”

Hole was also given a five-year sexual offences prevention order prohibiting him from contact with any girl under 16 unless that girl’s parent or guardian is present.
