Children’s party organiser jailed for 17 years for raping child
A children’s party organiser, who raped a young girl in the Great Yarmouth area, has been jailed for 17 years and placed on the sex offender’s register for life.
Lee Ornstein, 29 ,of Malew Street. Castletown, Isle of Man, but who previously lived in Norfolk, admitted four counts of raping a girl under 13.
John Farmer, prosecuting at Norwich Crown Court, said that after abusing the girl he was threatened to kill her if she told anyone what he had done.
The court heard how the sex abuse had a profound effect on the victim and in an impact statement her family said that he had taken away her childhood and had left the victim suffering panic attacks and had changed her personality.
Jailing him, Judge Stephen Holt said that Ornstein posed a “high risk of harm” to children and said he was concerned that someone like him had been involved in organising children’s parties: “Your job was organising parties for children. There must be a feeling that you pursued that line of work so you could get close to children.”
He said the impact statement by the victim’s family was one of the saddest he had heard: “No words can express what you did to that family.”
He said that his actions had a “extreme psychological effec”
Judge Holt also ordered Ornstein to be on an extended seven year licence in his release.
Michael Clare, for Ornstein, said that he was in denial over the offences despite his plea.
He said that there was just the one victim in the case.
