Paedophile who also had sexual interest in animal porn spared jail

A paedophile who admitted having a sexual interest in young children has avoided jail after being caught with indecent images of juveniles and extreme pornography involving animals.

George Horsey, 26, appeared at Truro Crown Court for sentencing this morning after pleading guilty to two charges at a previous hearing.

He walked free after a judge ruled that it was better to treat him for his habit in the community than send him to jail.

Police searched Horsey’s home at The Green, in Launceston, on June 8 last year and found the vile images on a laptop.

The court heard that Horsey had admitted to having a sexual interest in young children.

Michael Brown, prosecuting, said police found six indecent images of children, two of which were category A, the most severe category.

The examination also revealed 151 extreme pornographic images involving animals. The pictures were viewed between November 2014 and June 2015.

Sentencing, Judge Simon Carr told Horsey he had avoided an immediate custodial sentence due to his willingness to improve his behaviour.

Judge Carr said: “Let me make it clear to you now; millions of women and children are raped on a daily basis and people like you who are downloading these images are contributing to that.

“These women and children don’t want to be abused or abusing animals; they are forced to because it is a business. As a consumer, you are in part responsible for this.”

Judge Carr handed Horsey an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

He was also given a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement, made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for ten years.
