Children’s home sex beast jailed for eight-year campaign of abuse
A childrens’s home worker is facing jail for child abuse.
Francis Hannaway, 63, was found guilty of sexual activity with a girl of 11 at a home in Lanarkshire in 2014.
Jurors also convicted him of abusing a girl over eight years at a house in Viewpark, starting when the victim was six.
Hannaway denied all charges and mouthed “it’s all lies” in the dock as the verdicts were returned.
Sheriff Douglas Brown remanded him in custody and warned him: “Given the nature of these charges, you should expect a substantial sentence when you return to court.”
Hannaway was convicted of lewd and libidinous behaviour, sexual assault and sexual activity with an underage girl over the Viewpark victim.
He was also found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with the 11-year-old children’s home girl.
The court heard Hannaway was caught after his wife of 40 years found a photo of a child on his phone.
He was thrown out of the house and police were called.
Hannaway, of Viewpark, claimed at his four-week trial that his accusers were telling lies.
