Sex pest jailed for grooming and exploiting two children

A detective who helped jail a paedophile who groomed and exploited two teenagers says the victims showed tremendous courage throughout the investigation.

Martyn Coburn, 35, asked for naked photos from the girls after grooming them on Facebook and via text messages.

Coburn stored 11 photos one of the girls had sent him in a file he named “my woman”, Lincoln Crown Court heard on Thursday.

James Vout, prosecuting, said: “He was soon sending text messages to her.

“They were extensive and at all times of day. He took to calling her ‘baby’ and told her she was ‘really pretty’.”

Coburn, of Castle View, Walcott, was jailed for four and a half years, given a lifetime sex offender’s registration order and a lifetime sexual harm prevention order.

DC Wayne Pilkington, from the child sexual exploitation team, said: “This is a fantastic result for the victims.

“They have both shown great courage and this has given them closure to now move on with their lives.

“The investigation is also a great result for our child sexual exploitation team, demonstrating that child sex offences will be dealt with robustly.”
