Depraved Plymouth bully jailed for raping one teenager and sexually abusing another

A bullying pervert has been jailed for six-and-a-half years for raping one schoolgirl and sexually assaulting another.

Justice has finally caught up Dale Tippett more than 15 years after he abused the youngsters.

Both complainants, now grown women, bravely told a jury at Plymouth Crown Court that he had bullied them to get what he wanted.

Jailing him for a total of six-and-a-half years, a judge said he had taken advantage of a vulnerable teenager to rape her.

He added that Tippett had left his second victim traumatised.

Both women told his week-long trial that the defendant was a “bully”.

Convicted drug dealer Tippett, of Devonport Road, Stoke, had denied three counts of rape against one girl between November 1994 and March 1996. The period covered her 16th birthday.

He also pleaded not guilty to three counts of indecent assault on the girl when she was 14 or 15 between 1999 and 2001.

Tippet claimed he only had consensual sex with the first teenager six or seven times. He denied touching the second girl inappropriately.

A jury found him guilty of one rape charge and all three indecent assaults after eight hours of deliberation.

Tippett stood stony-faced as the verdicts were announced.

The court heard that the second victim complained to police back in 2001 and police traced the other girl. But she failed to make a complaint and Tippett was not prosecuted.

Garth Richardson, for the Crown Prosecution Service, summarised a statement from the woman who was indecently assaulted.

He quoted: “I feel so much better now that I have reported the matter to police. Before this things were building up inside me. I was short-tempered and took it out on my husband.

“I made this complaint because I did not want anyone else going through what I did.”

Mr Richardson said she regrets what happened to the other victim and also felt sorry for Tippett’s partner at the time.

She had told the jury that Tippett had groped her and immediately told her not to tell the woman.

Llewellyn Sellick, for Tippett, said that sex happened with the other complainant six or seven times and on one occasion it was rape.

Tippett was jailed for four years in 2010 for dealing cocaine, amphetamine and cannabis resin

He was given a suspended prison sentence for affray in 2014.
