Teen admits possession of indecent images of children and animals
A teenager was caught with hundreds of pictures of adults having sex with animals and indecent images of children, a court heard.
Macaulay Carr, aged 19, viewed the images on the internet hours before he was arrested.
A laptop computer found next to his bed contained seven indecent images of children plus 246 illegal images of people having sex with various animals.
A tower computer in the same room had also been used to search for child images, as well as adult straight and gay pornography.
Carr, of Ladysmith Road, Mount Gould, stood trial at Plymouth Crown Court after denying four counts.
But he later changed his pleas to admit possessing one Category A image, five Category B images and one Category C image.
Category A is the most severe, showing adults having sex with children.
Carr also admitted possessing 246 images of extreme pornography involving animals.
Nick Lewin, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said police arrested Carr at about 8am on May 16, 2014 at a pub in Cheadle, near Manchester.
He added that an expert who examined his laptop found he had accessed indecent images of children and animal pornography in the early hours of that morning.
Mr Lewin said the computer user had also accessed Carr’s Facebook page and email address over the same period.
He added that Carr denied viewing any pornography at that time – but could not explain who had been using his laptop computer.
The court heard that Carr had software installed on his laptop which deleted his internet history.
Carr asked to change his plea as the first witness was giving evidence against him.
Judge Paul Darlow adjourned sentence until tomorrow for the defendant to talk to a probation officer – though the hearing may be adjourned if the service needs more time for him to see a specialist.
