Woman groomed and engaged in sexual activity with boy

A Bassetlaw woman who befriended five boys, sent them sexually explicit images and engaged in sexual activity with one has been jailed.

Gail Wright, 44 of Elmtree Close, Shireoaks was sentenced to two years in prison at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, July 15.

She pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to one count of sexual activity with a child under 16, four counts of causing a child to look at an image of sexual activity and two counts of possessing an indecent photograph of a child.

She is also required to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.

Wright met the boys in 2015 when they were aged 14 and 15 and went on to develop a relationship via Facebook with each of them.

She struck up a friendship with the first boy who “felt he could talk to her about things”.

But this escalated into Wright sending him naked pictures of herself and making sexually explicit comments.

After using a friend’s phone to talk to Wright on Facebook, the boy didn’t log out and his friend then made contact with the woman.

During this time, she sent nude photos of herself and videos containing sexual acts to all of the boys.

She also bought one of the boys Nike Air trainers and clothes for his 16th birthday after she had begun a sexual relationship with him.

Her behaviour only came to light when the father of one of the boys saw the pictures on his phone.

Eventually all the boys’ parents saw what had been happening and it was reported to the police.

Police officers found 42 images on Wright’s iPad which she had sent to the boys.
