Swimming coach is jailed for raping schoolgirl
A man who helped coach children at a Scarborough swimming club has been caged for four-and-a-half years after admitting rape and other sex offences.
Troy Renshaw, 21, appeared before York Crown Court for sentencing, having previously admitted a charge of rape, one of sexual activity with a child and one of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
Despite pleas from his barrister that the former member of the Kingfisher Swimming Club should not be prevented from rebuilding his previously good character on his release from prison, Judge Roger Ibbotson imposed an indefinite ban on Renshaw ever working with children again.
He also ordered Renshaw should be registered as a sex offender for a similar period.
