Pervert posed as girl to lure teenage boys on Facebook
Children as young as 11 have been targeted on Facebook by a paedophile who pretended to be a girl.
Darren Sanby, 21, hid behind a female profile on the social networking site and befriended adolescent boys at a Lincoln school.
The pervert sent the lads, who thought they were corresponding with the girl, sexually explicit videos and images to encourage them to send back naked pictures of themselves.
Sanby, of St Peter’s Avenue, Lincoln, pleaded guilty to 17 charges at Lincoln Crown Court, including making a child look at images of sexual activity, inciting sexual exploitation and making and distributing indecent photographs.
He was also found to have 5,640 indecent images of children and he distributed 40 of them to other perverts online
Sanby denied two further charges of inciting the sexual exploitation of a child and one of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Before his arrest, police wrote to parents at the Priory Witham Academy asking them to check their children’s Facebook accounts and to contact Lincolnshire Police if they had been befriended by Sanby or another profile in the name of Katie Johnstion, which he used to trick youngsters.
They refused to reveal the exact nature of the contact at the time, but described it as “inappropriate”.
Parents are now being warned to be vigilant about their children’s Facebook use.
