Man jailed for sexual assault and owning indecent images of children
A man has been jailed for sexually assaulting a number of children and owning thousands of indecent images.
John Breeze, 63, of Downall Road, Wigan, pleaded guilty to 17 counts of indecent images and indecent assaults of children.
Breeze was sentenced to five years in prison at Liverpool Crown Court.
In October 2015, officers from Greater Manchester Police executed a warrant at Breeze’s home and seized his computer and other items.
After forensic examination of electronic storage devices and other related material, officers from the organised crime intelligence unit discovered thousands of indecent images of children.
Further investigation uncovered that Breeze had sexually assaulted three boys aged 10, 11 & 14 years old between 1998 and 2000, and taken indecent phots of them.
Breeze was arrested and later charged with 17 offences of possessing and making indecent images of children and indecent assault.
John Breeze was a calculating individual who befriended people in order to sexually abuse young boys while on days out and on holidays.
Man, 63, admits child sex abuse
A 63-year-old Wigan man has admitted a string of child abuse crimes.
John Breeze pleaded guilty to 17 offences and had already admitted six others.
Sentence has been adjourned until later this month and Judge Stephen Everett said: “The issue of dangerousness has to be considered.”
The admission came as another Wigan man found with almost 3,000 indecent images on his computer walked free from court.
Breeze, of Downall Green Road, Ashton, had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to six offences of possessing more than 11,500 indecent images of children.
He has now admitted seven offences of indecently assaulting two boys, one aged 10 and 11 and the other aged under 16 and seven offences of taking indecent photographs of them.
Those offences occurred between May 1998 and August 2000. Breeze additionally pleaded guilty to three offences of taking indecent images of another boy in June 2002.
Breeze, who appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video link from Walton Prison, was further remanded in custody to await sentence on June 24.
