Portslade sex offender sent to prison
A Portslade sex offender has been returned to prison after breaching his licence and going awol from his bail hostel.
Kasey Knowles, 22, originally from Flint Close, Portslade, was arrested in Brighton last night and sent back to jail.
Knowles was given a ten-month suspended prison sentence in August last year after pleading guilty to grooming a teenage girl online and then having sex with her.
He was also given a two-year supervision order, 240 hours unpaid work, 10 years on the Sex Offenders Register and 10-year SHPO after admitting six counts of sexual activity.
He was later given a 15-month sentence for breaching the SHPO for contacting witnesses, but released on licence on 11 March.
After he pleaded guilty last month to assaulting a man in Graham Close, Portslade, he was fined £40, ordered to pay his victim £30 and costs of £85 – and warned he would be returned to prison.
‘Manipulative’ man groomed girls online – No prison
A “MANIPULATIVE” man who groomed a schoolgirl he met online has escaped an immediate jail sentence.
Kasey Knowles gained the trust of the girl, aged 13 over the internet and then met her in Brighton.
The 21-year-old, who lives in Brighton, was admitted six counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with the teenager.
On Friday last week he was sentenced to a ten month suspended sentence suspended for two years, a two year supervision order, 240 hours unpaid work, and will spend ten years on the Sex Offenders Register and is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years.
Detective constable Dawn Robertson, who was involved in the child exploitation investigation, said his behaviour was “intolerable.”
She said: “Knowles is a manipulative man who a groomed girl he met online and then met in the city. His behaviour is intolerable and we are working to offer the girl involved with the best support.”
