Sex fiend on moped jailed for series of attacks on girls
A moped-riding sexual predator was yesterday jailed for four years after a series of attacks on schoolgirls.
Bricklayer Andrew Gallivan was branded a ‘danger’ after admitting having fantasies about girls in uniform.
The court heard Gallivan, 34, stopped his scooter when he saw schoolgirls in uniform got off the bike to attack his young victims.
Prosecutor Hugh Wallace said Gallivan was caught after a quick-thinking 14-year-old memorised his number plate as he rode off after attacking her.
He said, ‘The 14-year-old girl was going to school when a blue Yamaha bike passed her.
‘Gallivan decided to stop the bike then walked behind the girl and indecently assaulted her.
‘He was arrested two hours later because his number plate had been recorded.’
When he was interviewed Gallivan admitted two more indecent assaults on 12-year-old schoolgirls.
Gallivan, from Cwmcarn admitted three indecent assaults at Cardiff Crown Court.
Judge Isabel Parry jailed him for four years and branded him a ‘danger to the public’.
She told him, ‘These were offences against three girls aged 12 to 14 over the course of two months.
‘The attacks were committed during the hours of daylight on schoolgirls in uniform on their way to or from school.
‘You came up to them from behind unannounced and unexpected putting them in a state of fear then you pounced on them.
‘It’s clear you present a high level of risk to young girls and you had been fantasising about committing the offence of rape.
‘There is a high risk to the public, particularly young women and you appear to be predatory in nature.’
Gallivan was banned from working with children and ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
