July 2018: Now living in Hungerford, Berkshire
A woman has told of her family’s seven year ordeal at the hands of a Thatcham paedophile jailed for 6-and-a-half years for targeting a teenage girl in a relentless campaign of terror.
Sean Blandford, 35, is thought to have first started sending anonymous text messages to the teenager in 2005.
But she says the messages soon turned x-rated and he resorted to repeatedly setting up fake social network accounts to fool her into reading his “disgusting” messages.
One of the girl’s relatives, who asked not to be named, said: “It started with texts at first from an unknown number, saying ‘you’re hot’ or ‘you’re sexy’ and she thought it was a young lad.
“But then they became really sexual and absolutely disgusting over Facebook. He was setting up different characters on there, but we knew it was him. It’s been going on ever since. I don’t know why, but he’s just obsessed. Every time we try to make it stop, it just carries on.”
Blandford, of Orchard Court, was jailed for four years at Reading Crown Court earlier this month for causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
The pervert was also given a consecutive 30 month sentence for breaching a restraining order. He denies the charges but was found guilty after a nine-day trial at the same court last month.
The family is concerned their relief will be short-lived and are already living in fear of the day he is back out on the streets.
The woman added: “It’s a relief for now but we worry it will just start again. We spend all our time looking over our shoulders.
“We want people to know what he has done to try and stop this, and to help give other girls, who he may have also been sending messages to over the years, the courage to speak up.”
When he was jailed on November 2, Blandford was ordered to remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely and disqualified from working
