17 years for evil sex predator

A “dangerous sexual predator” from Staffordshire has been jailed for 17 years for a string of sexual offences including rape.

Craig Alan Butler denied three charges of rape and five other sex offences but was convicted by a jury at Stafford Crown Court.

The 34-year-old will be put on the sexual offenders’ register for the rest of his life. Butler, of Lime Pit Lane, Huntington, denied three charges of rape, five charges of causing a child to engage in sexual activity and two counts of sexual assault.

He was found guilty at the end of a trial on February 20 and remanded in custody for sentence on Monday by Judge Simon Tonking.

Staffordshire prosecutors and police today welcomed the sentence.

Dc Jim Ward said: “The sentence fairly reflects the appalling offences for which this dangerous sexual predator has been convicted and I am pleased that the victim has seen a positive end to this investigation.”
