Harlow man jailed over child and animal porn offences

A HARLOW man is today (Wednesday, November 14) starting a 28-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to child and animal porn offences.

Unemployed David Scally, of Park Court, was jailed at Chelmsford Crown Court earlier today and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

The 34-year-old was also handed a 10-year Sex Offenders Prevention Order.

The court heard he was arrested at his home address in March this year.

In June, he was charged with two counts of distributing indecent images of children, three counts of making indecent photographs of children and two counts of possessing pornographic images of sexual intercourse with animals.

He had pleaded guilty to all the offences, which were committed in 2011, at an earlier hearing.

Speaking outside the court, investigating officer Ds Ian Collins said: “This is another positive result at court for the online protection team.

“This sex offender will now have the opportunity to gain the help needed for his addiction. Once he is released from prison he will be monitored by the Dangerous Offender Unit and have restrictions on his usage of the internet as part of his SOPO order.”
