Prison for molester of six-year-old

A CHILD molester who attacked a six-year-old girl while her mother was out playing bingo has been jailed for seven years.

Nigel Minty, 41, subjected the terrified girl to “just about every act of sexual abuse imaginable” at a Walkden home, a judge at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court was told.

A packed public gallery screamed abuse at Minty as details of his horrifying crimes were read out.

Minty, of Braemar Walk, Blackpool, was flanked by two guards as he admitted 16 offences of indecent assault and one of indecency with a child.

He wept as Judge Jonathan Geake said his job was to dispense “justice and not vengeance”. The judge told Minty that by pleading guilty he had spared his victim the ordeal of re-living her experiences.

Judge Geake said Minty had not come to terms with the enormity of what he had done, and added: “You cannot begin to assess the damage you have caused to a girl with her formative years in front of her.

“Already she is expressing fears and is worried about all sorts of things for the future.”

Minty will also receive three years supervision under the guidance of probation officers after he leaves jail.
