Jail for pervert who lured under-age girls
A aspiring teacher has been jailed for four years after admitting grooming under-age girls.
Benjamen Johnson, 24, groomed two girls aged 14 and a third aged 15 into sexual activity despite knowing exactly how old they were, Cambridge Crown Court heard.
The court was told Johnson texted them sexually explicit photos of himself and urged them to take pictures of themselves and send them to him.
He also drove one of the girls, then aged 14, to a secluded lay-by, where he engaged in sexual activity with her.
When he heard one of the girls had been talking about him, he stopped contact fearing discovery – only to start grooming a different underage girl months later.
Johnson, who was intending to train as a teacher, was arrested last January when one of the girls contacted police
Two other girls were later interviewed and gave officers old mobile phones containing the indecent images.
Johnson, of Carter Close, Duxford, initially denied all charges but pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual activity with a child just before his trial was due to start in early January.
He also admitted causing a child to watch a sexual act and inciting a child to sexual activity in connection to the obscene picture texts.
Citing Johnson’s breach of a position of trust, Judge Hawkesworth sentenced him to four years in prison and imposed a one-year extended licence period.
It means he will serve two years in custody and another three on licence in the community.
He was banned from working with children indefinitely and will also be place on the sex offenders’ register for life.
