Sexual predator jailed for three and a half years

A sexual predator who preyed on young girls has been jailed for three and a half years.

David Anthony Morecock, 26, from Ley Hill Farm Road in Northfield, Birmingham, pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to the offence of sexual activity with a child.

Judge Toby Hooper, sitting at Worcester Crown Court, on Thursday, June 16 sentenced Morecock, who has previous addresses in both Redditch and Bromsgrove, to three and a half years in prison.

He also gave him a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for life banning him from unsupervised contact of any form with under 16s and accessing the internet without special software enabling police to monitor its use.

He will also be placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Morecock has a number of previous convictions for sexual offences going back to 2000, and was already a registered sex offender.

The latest charge relates to a relationship he formed on a social networking site with a 15-year-old girl in Redditch in 2009.

During their first meeting, Morecock coerced her into performing sexual acts.

He was arrested after the victim’s mother became suspicious and answered her daughter’s mobile phone, pretending to be the girl.

DC Adrian Smith of Bromsgrove CID described Morecock as a sexual predator who preyed on young girls.

He said: “Morecock has a long list of previous convictions, including sexual offences.

“Over the years he has formed or attempted to form a number of sexual relationships with young girls and is clearly a danger to them.

“In this latest case, he was clearly much older than his victim, and undoubtedly put pressure on her to commit sexual acts.”
